History

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a painter and sculptor whose career lasted nearly 80 years. During that time he was known for redefining art through his co-invention of cubism.  His career is famously categorized into distinct stylistic phases, from the Blue Period prompted by personal grief to the vibrant, Rose Period and the Cubist masterpiece Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. Beyond his technical innovations, Picasso was a significant political figure; his 1937 mural Guernica remains one of the world's most powerful anti war statements, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential artist of the 20th century.
